Why Aluminum Beats Plastic and Tinplate for Many Closures
Aluminum is chosen for caps because it delivers several advantages at once:
- Barrier performance. Aluminum is a complete barrier to light, oxygen, moisture and aroma, which matters for spirits, essential oils and nutraceuticals.
- Light weight. Roughly a third of the density of steel, so freight cost per 1,000 caps stays low.
- Recyclability. Aluminum is infinitely recyclable without loss of quality, and a high share of packaging aluminum already contains recycled content.
- Decoration freedom. It takes lacquer, printing, anodizing, brushing, embossing and laser marking exceptionally well.
- Formability. Complex profiles, knurling and tamper-evident bands can be formed in a single drawing or stamping operation.
